What we collect, why, and who else sees it.

Last updated October 3, 2026

The short version

  • Planarchy is run by CK5 LLC (“we”). We collect what it takes to run your events.
  • Your phone number and your consent to texts are never sold or shared for marketing.
  • Planarchy is free and shows ads from Google. You can turn off personalized ads at any time.
  • You can see, fix and delete your information from the app.

The terms are the other half of this page.

What we collect

Your account. Your name, email address, profile picture and account ID from Google or Apple, whichever you sign in with. We never have a password of yours.

Your phone number. Every account needs one: it's how friends invite you. We check it's yours with a one-time code, which Twilio generates and we don't keep. We store the number, the date you verified it, the date you agreed to event texts (if you did), and a scrambled code made from the number that lets a friend's phone find your account without sending us their contacts.

Your events. What you put in them: name, description, time, place (including map coordinates if you drop a pin), guests, replies, chat messages, polls and votes.

People you invite by number. Their number, and a dated record that you told us they agreed to hear from you. If they reply, the name and answer they give.

Your contacts, which we don't keep. In the iOS app, the Contacts tab reads your address book on your phone, with your permission. Your phone sends us scrambled codes, not names or numbers. We send back which ones are already on Planarchy and keep none of them.

Technical information. The browser and IP address of each signed-in session, a notification token if you allow notifications in the iOS app, your theme preference, and records of errors so we can fix them.

How we use it

To run Planarchy: show your events to the people invited to them, send the notifications and texts described here, keep accounts secure, fix what breaks, and show ads. We don't use your messages, contacts or phone number for advertising.

Ads

Planarchy shows ads from Google on the website and in the iOS app. To make them relevant, we may tell Google the category of the event you're looking at (for example “sports”). We never give Google or any other advertiser your name, email, phone number, contacts, event names or descriptions, guest lists or messages.

Google and its partners use cookies and device identifiers to show ads, and, if ads are personalized, to choose them based on your visits to Planarchy and other sites and apps. Google also uses them to limit repeats, count views and clicks, and stop fraud. How Google uses this information.

Turning off personalized ads. Use the Personalized ads switch in Settings, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we treat the same way. In the iOS app, ads are personalized only if you allow tracking when the app asks. You'll still see ads, just not ones based on your activity. You can also manage Google's ads at adssettings.google.com and other companies' at aboutads.info.

Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked before any ad cookies are used.

Text messages

Planarchy sends three kinds of text, all about events you're part of:

  • a one-time code when you verify your number;
  • an invitation when a friend invites your number and you're not on Planarchy yet;
  • updates hosts post to events you're invited to, only if you ticked “Text me about my events”.

No marketing or promotional texts. Event reminders come as app notifications, never as texts. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Opting in. Updates are opt-in. You tick the box when you add your number, or turn on “Text me about my events” in Settings. It's never ticked for you and you don't need it to use Planarchy. Turn it off in Settings or reply STOP at any time. Replying STOP turns the Settings switch off too, and START turns it back on.

If a friend invites you. The invitation is sent because your friend confirmed you agreed to hear from them. It names them and the event, links to an RSVP page, and is the only text you'll get unless you join and opt in. Reply STOP and no Planarchy text will reach your number again unless you reply START.

Your number. Your mobile number and your consent to receive texts are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and never reach Google or any advertiser. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party, except Twilio, which delivers the messages.

Who else sees it

  • Guests. An event's details, chat and polls are visible to the people invited to it. The host decides whether guests see the guest list.
  • Google or Apple, when you sign in with them. They don't receive your events.
  • Twilio, which sends our texts. It gets the number and the message.
  • OpenStreetMap, which receives your search text or map location when you use the location field.
  • Google, for ads, as described under Ads.
  • Our hosting providers, which store data for us and may not use it for anything else.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it, and a buyer if CK5 or Planarchy is ever sold, bound by this policy.

We don't sell your information for money. Some state laws call personalized advertising “selling” or “sharing”. Turning off personalized ads, or sending Global Privacy Control, opts you out of it.

How long we keep it

Until you delete it. Sessions expire 30 days after you last use them and error records are deleted after 30 days. A number someone invited is deleted with the event; if that person replied, their name and number stay until they join with that number or ask us to delete them. Deleting your account immediately deletes your profile, number, sessions, devices, the events you host, your place in other events and your chat messages. A STOP is held by Twilio, so it stays in effect even after your account is gone.

Your choices

  • See or fix it: almost everything is on screen, and you can edit your name. Email us to change your number or anything else.
  • Stop texts: reply STOP, or turn off “Text me about my events” in Settings.
  • Turn off personalized ads: see Ads.
  • Delete your account: Settings (the cog), your name, ⋯ menu, Delete account.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to opt out of targeted advertising, and to appeal our answer. Email privacy@planarchyapp.com from the address you sign in with. We won't treat you differently for asking. We honor Global Privacy Control. Browsers' Do Not Track setting has no agreed meaning, so we don't act on it.

Security, age and location

Everything travels over HTTPS and only the people who run Planarchy can reach the database. No system is perfectly secure; if your data is affected by a breach, we'll tell you.

Planarchy is for people 18 and over. If we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we delete it.

Your information is stored in the United States.

Changes and questions

We'll tell you in the app before a significant change takes effect. Questions go to CK5 LLC at privacy@planarchyapp.com, and a person will answer.
