Help

How Planarchy works, and what to do when something doesn't.

Getting started

What is Planarchy?

A free app for planning events with friends: dinners, game nights, pickup games, trips. You make the event, invite people, and the replies, votes and group chat all live on it, instead of across three text threads.

Does it cost anything?

No. Planarchy is free and is paid for by ads.

How do I sign up?

Continue with Google or Apple; there's no password to make. Then add your phone number and enter the code we text you. Every account needs a verified number, because that's how friends find and invite you.

Do I need the app?

No. Everything works in a phone or computer browser. The iOS app adds notifications and the option to invite people from your contacts.

Making an event

How do I create one?

Three steps. Who & what: name it, pick a category, choose guests and cap the spots if you need to. When & where: set a date and drop a pin, or put either to a vote. Additional settings: an RSVP deadline, a weekly or monthly repeat, and whether guests can see the guest list. Hit create and the invitations go out.

What happens when an event is full?

Extra people go on a stand-by list. You can fill spots first come, first served, or rank a priority list yourself. When someone backs out, the next person in line is offered the spot.

Can someone help me host?

Yes. Add a co-host and they can manage the event with you.

Can I reuse an event?

Save it as a template from its ⋯ menu, or set it to repeat weekly or monthly when you make it. Unfinished events are kept as drafts.

Invitations

How do I invite friends?

Add friends on Planarchy by searching for their name or email, then pick them when you make an event. In the iOS app you can also invite people from your contacts, including people who aren't on Planarchy yet.

What does someone without an account get?

One text naming you and the event, with a link to reply. They can answer without signing up. They won't get reminders or follow-ups by text unless they make an account and turn texts on themselves. Only invite people who know you and would want to hear from you.

I can't answer yet. What do I do?

If the host allows it, snooze the invitation and it will come back to you later. If you said yes and can't make it after all, use “Can't make it?” on the event. Your reason goes to the group, and your spot goes to whoever is next.

Can I put an event in my calendar?

Yes. Use “Add to calendar” on the event page.

Text messages

What texts does Planarchy send?

A code when you verify your number, and, only if you turn on “Text me about my events”, updates hosts post to events you're invited to. Reminders come as app notifications, never texts. No marketing. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply.

How do I stop them?

Reply STOP to any text, or turn off “Text me about my events” in Settings. Replying STOP turns that switch off for you. Reply START to get texts again, and HELP for how to reach us. The messaging terms have the details.

I got a text from Planarchy and I don't know why.

Someone who has your number invited you to an event; the text names them. Reply STOP and you won't hear from us again.

Your account

Where are my settings?

Tap the cog at the top of the app. That's where you choose a theme, decide what friends can see on your profile, turn texts on or off, and sign out.

How do I change my name or number?

Your name: open your profile, tap ⋯, then Edit name. Your number: email us from the address you sign in with, and tell us if a number stops being yours, so its next owner doesn't get your invitations.

How do I turn off personalized ads?

See the ads section of the privacy policy. You'll still see ads, just not ones based on your activity.

How do I delete my account?

Open Settings (the cog), tap your name, then ⋯ and Delete account. It's immediate and takes the events you host with it. The privacy policy lists everything that goes.

Still stuck?

Email privacy@planarchyapp.com and a person will answer. To report an event or a message that breaks the terms, tell us which one.
